Learn to Love Yourself (Or No One Else Will)

You’ve probably heard this before, but it’s true: You cannot truly love someone else if you don’t love yourself first. In order to make a relationship really work, you have to love yourself and know that you’re a good person with or without a significant other by your side.

Sometimes we are so concerned with finding someone to love us that we don’t take time to love ourselves first. Trust me, I’ve dealt with body image issues my entire life, and it was only about a year ago that I started to truly love myself. I used to think, “I’m fat; who could love me?” Then, I woke up one day and realized that I’m beautiful at any size and I should be confident in my own skin. Even though I’ve been dating the same man for five years, I used to feel like he would be happier if I wasn’t overweight. Newsflash: He proposed to me when I was at my heaviest weight ever. Your appearance isn’t all that matters, and you need to learn to love yourself and have confidence if you want to find someone to call your own. Confidence is sexier than any outfit could ever be.
