First State, First Day, First Hike

January 1, 2016

Lums Pond State Park

This hike will take you through some of Lums Pond’s unique habitats. Many birds and possibly some mammals will be out. Approx. 2 miles. Trap Pond State Park. This hike will include a section of the newly dedicated “Bob Trail” named in honor or retired State Senator Bob Venables. Approx. 3 miles. Many Delaware State Parks are having First Day, First Hike Events. Please check with your local park.


Holiday Festival of Trains

Odessa’s Annual Holiday Celebration

A seasonal tradition of interpreting scenes from classic literature. This year you’re invited to tour the National Historic Register Wilson-Warner House transformed into vignettes inspired by Lewis Carroll’s famous book, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. 2015 celebrates the book’s sesquicentennial (150 years) reacquainting us with the beloved characters and remembering fantastic scenes. New Year’s Eve Anchor Drop at Lightship Overfalls

New Year’s Rockin’ Noon

Let the countdown begin! Ring in 2016 at the Delaware Children’s Museum with a special New Year’s Eve countdown celebration that won’t conflict with your kid’s bedtime. Grab a bag of confetti, craft your own sparkly “New Year’s Eve Noisemaker,” and help us countdown to 12PM with a rockin’ DCM dance party. When the clock strikes 12-noon, brace yourself for a shower of confetti and a colorful start to a wonderful new year.

All activities are included with general admission. (11 am – 12:30 pm).

Midnight Muskrat Dive

The fireworks display, which will begin promptly at midnight, will be accompanied by live entertainment.
