The Guide was founded on a very simple premise: provide Delmarva with an advertising channel targeted to our residents. 

In 1959, using a flyer format, advertising was distributed to a variety of retail outlets in the Sussex County area. Local businesses soon learned that this simple, straight-forward advertising method, then known as the Sussex Guide, was very effective. Now, more than 50 years later, that same premise remains true in the digest sized publication distributed and known throughout Delmarva as The Guide. (Click here to view our full distribution map.)


The Guide’s continued success is based on a combination of a strong advertiser base and loyal readership. A number of the publication’s advertisers have used The Guide to promote their own growth since it started in 1959. Many have held prime page positions every week for nearly thirty years, a testimonial to The Guide’s strength in the market. The Guide’s popularity and positive results have been proven through the years in surveys, various response tracking methods and simply when the customer walks through the door with the publication in hand. 


Every Wednesday morning, a fleet of delivery vehicles hits the road delivering that much anticipated new issue to destinations throughout Delmarva. Readers anxiously await their delivery and the opportunity to find out where to get the best deals on just about everything.

This unique publication continues to prosper in its traditional print edition and online with its enhanced digital edition.
